hAs I mention on my previews blog that I will be travelling again. This time I'm going to Phuket, Thailand. This is my second time in Phuket. I went with my boyfriend Ryan and our husband & wife friends Jason and Yuko with their super cute daughter Khianti.
Here is the video of our Phuket trip. Don't forget to read my blog after watching ✌
My flight to Phuket was on Saturday, 12th March 2016. It was a solo flight again (again for work reason). But honestly speaking I enjoy flying alone. Upon checking in, there was a problem in my booking reference. The ground lady can't find my booking reference and I swear I was in a "i got screwed mode". She suggested me to call the agency where I have purchased my ticket. So I tried to call the agency but nobody was picking up and I tried reaching out my friend, Yuko (who was already in Phuket) for her to contact the agency. After a few minutes, the agency finally gave me the correct booking number. They have changed my reference number without telling me, which is very very bad and to think that this is my first time booking my flight with an agency just to get a cheaper rate. I will definitely not do that again. Word of advice to everyone, better book your flight or even the hotels by yourself.
I am lucky enough to reach on the boarding gate right on time. I took Thai Airwasys. Since I love to fly and to be on an airplane and eat the "airplane food" so I'm pretty much excited. I had Chicken Fried Noodles for my breakfast meal. The food was quite good. I reached Phuket on time too.
The driver had picked me up from the airport to drive me to the Villa. We stayed in Nai Harn Baan Bua Villa. It's around almost 2 hours away from the airport. The Villa was very nice, it has a swimming pool, a large kitchen, dining table and living room, It has 4 bedrooms and a laundry room. It is a perfect home for a family. The first thing I did was to unpack my stuff and head out to grab some merienda (afternoon snacks) with Ryan. He drove a motorcycle and this is my first time riding a motorcycle with him. The feeling was amazing, having a boyfriend driving for me.
I have spent my whole afternoon just relaxing at the villa, swimming and chilling with my "Tiger" beer.
Around late night we all went to Patong Beach to party!!! We were already drinking our beers inside the car before we even reach Patong Beach. The holiday mode is definitely super high!
We went to this club called "Illuzion". There's no entrance fee and we got ourself a table. We ordered a bottle of Absolut Vodka with sodas and tequila rose shots. The place was very huge and there's a huge DJ booth with a stage for the dancers to showcase their moves. We ended up going down to the front stage and It was amazing! I haven't done this for a long time and the DJ and the dancers was very cool and very entertaining. The last thing I remember inside that club was chugging a tequila white shot with Ryan (oh man! as much as I love tequila, that is also my weakness).
We took a taxi van to our villa and we paid around 400 baht. By the way, it is hard to bargain with the taxi price in Phuket. Everyone seems to have a fixed price over there. When we reach to our villa, I was very hungry and I decided to cook noodles. I grabbed whatever noodles I saw in the drawer without checking what it is (it's in thai characters by the way). Without me knowing, the noodles was actually very very hot and spicy but I still continue to eat it and I finished it. I was that hungry and drunk. This was definitely a memorable night.
The next morning we woke up with a hangover (of course!). I had a huge stomachache when I woke up from the super spicy noodles that I forced myself to eat last night before going to bed. What can I say, drunk people do stupid things. So we decided to just stay home and relax and have BBQ night at the villa. We had beef, chicken and pork barbecue skewers, grilled corns and sausages. It's pretty simple but we enjoyed it. We all slept early tonight to ready ourself for our Island hopping activity in the next morning.
Monday, 14th March 2016 - Island hopping to Krabi Island
(Tup Island, Chicken Island, Poda Island & Phang Ngra Beach)
The next morning we all wake up very early around 6:00am as we need to catch our van pick up at 7:00am to bring us to Rassada Harbour to go to Krabi Island. We selected "Phuket Tours" (http://www.phukettoursdirect.com) because they are reliable and they offer cheap rates with lunch and transportation included. We paid 1700 Baht for the packages plus 200 Baht for pick up/ drop off to villa and 400 Baht for the National park fee in Krabi Island. It is 2300 Baht in total per person.
The boat ride took around 2 hours. It was a steady ride and we get to enjoy the breeze of the ocean.
We were transferred to a speed boat once we arrived at Nopparat Thara Pier. Our guide first introduce us about the Krabi Island. It consists of around 200 Islands and we have 4 Islands to visit.
First, we went to Tup Island and Mor Island. These 2 islands are linked together. We we given around 30 minutes to relax and swim around the beach. We saw so many little fishes and actually one of them sort of bite me! It's not painful but just tickles.
For the second island, we went to the Chicken Island. The reason why it is called the Chicken Island is because it looks like a chicken. See the below picture for the proof. We were given around 30-40 minutes to enjoy snorkelling among the coral reefs and fishes around the island. It was amazing how there are so many fishes. After that, we had our lunch at the same island. They serve dishes like fried chicken, fish fillet, vegetables with rice and waters are also included. It is a simple lunch yet delicious.
For the third island, we went to Poda Island. We were given an hour to enjoy sunbathing and swimming. I chose to relax and sunbathe as the sun was out. I normally turn around every 10 minutes but after a few rounds I end up falling asleep. I woke up not knowing how long since I last switch side. Unfortunately I got very red. So a very nice tip to everyone is to make an alarm in every 10 minutes, so you don't end up making yourself turn red!
Finally, the fourth and the last island was at Phra Nang Beach. We were given 30 minutes to explore the beach and the Phra Nang Cave. It was quite a long walk to the cave. The funniest part about Phra Nang Cave is that it has plenty of wooden male private object figures. I am not quite sure what is the meaning of this until I did some research about its legend. Apparently, the cave is known for the home of a mystical sea princess, where fisherman come to the cave and give offerings for their fishing success and also help with fertility. Other than the cave, there are some spots for you to do rock climbing. It's entertaining to watch people doing that.
On our way back to Nopparat Thara Pier, we also passed by Railey Beach. It look like a nice island, maybe in the future I will come visit this island. We took another 2 hour ride back to Rassada Harbour. We all slept the whole time as we are feeling very exhausted. It was an amazing island hopping trip and it was worth it. I hope to do it again soon!
For tonight's dinner, we decided to go out to Rawai Beach to have a seafood dinner. Along the beach area, there are a lot of seafood restaurant to choose from and finally we chose to dine at "Talay-Zeb". We started off with a bottle of beer each and we ordered a lot of dishes such as, Crabs, Steamed Fish in Thai Style, Squids, Mussels, Morning Glory and of course Fresh Oysters. We ordered a total of 20 pieces of Oysters. I believed I had at least 10 pieces. Each Oysters cost 50 Baht each and that's HK$ 10.00 each, which I definitely would go crazy for it.
After the amazing dinner, we went to have a foot massage and foot scrub in a spa called "Welcome" which it reminds us of the supermarket here in Hong Kong. The ladies are super friendly and they kept entertaining us. The massage and scrub cost around 500 Baht each, which I think was pretty reasonable and they did a very good job. Our feet feels very soft and refresh. Overall, today was very productive and unforgettable day.
Tuesday, 15th March 2016 - Safari tour in Phang-Nga (Khao Lak)
Today we all woke up at around 5:30am and we are set to depart from our villa around 6:30am to go to Phang-Nga Province to visit Khao Lak National Park for some safari adventure tour. The ride almost took us 3 hours to get to Phang-Nga Province. We all slept through the car ride as we are still exhausted from yesterday's activity.
The first activity we did was the Elephant trekking for 30 minutes in the jungle. The Elephant we were riding was called "iPhone". We thought that was very hilarious.
After the ride, we went to watch the baby elephant's show. It was amazing and these animals are very intelligent and adorable. We also had the chance to feed the Elephants some bananas. It was a very nice experience.
For our next stop, we went to the Pineapple farm to have a quick glimpse. It was full of pineapple and too bad we couldn't buy one.
After that we visited the turtle farm. Apparently, Turtles is our god-daughter Khianti's favorite animal. We got to see different sizes of turtles, some are the teeny tiny ones and some are giant.
After the turtle farm, we did the Bamboo rafting. We each had a guide to bring us around the river. It was very relaxing and peaceful. Seeing the nature is the best place to be. We even saw a snake resting in one of the trees.
For lunch time, we had a lot of selection. It's not the buffet style but instead they serve us the food into our table. We had soup, chicken dish, sweet and sour fish, vegetables and spring rolls, The food are delicious. This is by far the best lunch I ever had in a tour. I had an ice cream after the delicious meal.
After lunch we visited the Tsunami Memorial in Khao Lak. There was a big marine ship being displayed in the middle of the memorial ground. This was the ship they used to rescue people from the Tsunami disaster. There are also some information like posters with images posted inside the memorial ground, which was quite heartbreaking that many people had died during this unforeseen disaster.
Our next stop was the Monkey Cave Temple. This is me and Ryan second time to visit the Monkey Temple. The last time we were here was 2014 and there were plenty of monkey around and the cave wasn't open for public. Now they moved most of the monkeys in the jungle and opened the cave for public. We paid 20 Baht for the admission fee to get in to the cave. Inside the cave, there are many buddha statues and some fortune telling board. We manage to find some monkeys around the corner of the trees. We gave them some peanuts to eat. We also saw 2 baby goats and they are just lovely. Ryan feed them some milk.
For our last stop, we went to the Fruit market. I brought some grapefruits and the others brought some durians. We had another 3 hour car ride back to our villa. We happen to passed by Kata area and it looked like a nice place to go to for our last night in Phuket.
After we reach our villa, we all took a quick shower and head out to Kata. We decided to go for shopping for a while before dinner time. There were a lot of goodies and souvenir shops around. You can always bargain the price with the sales lady if you want cheaper price. For dinner we had Thai food.
After dinner we went for fish spa. This is the first time I tried this and its tickling. I couldn't last for 10 minutes.
Then we went for another foot massage night in Darin Massage and Beauty Salon. This place is beautiful. It is clean and it smells very good. The staff were friendly and nice. We paid 350 Baht each and it included a drink (tea or coffee) after the massage. This is by far the best massage place I ever been in Phuket. I will for sure come back to this heavenly spa whenever I'm in Phuket.
Overall, this 5 days trip was amazing and an unforgettable one. It's really sad that we need to go back to reality, to work and be in the odd weather once again. I will definitely miss the villa, the food, the friendly people, the nightlife and the heat.
Yours Sincerely,
Michelle Chan
